New Collection - Hearts A Flutter
An Azendi original design, ‘Hearts A Flutter’ is a romantic and pretty collection of hearts and butterflies. The collection features satin and polished sterling silver, all with a rhodium finish. Rhodium is a precious metal from the platinum family, widely used to finish white gold with its white colour. We use rhodium on many of our sterling silver designs as it stops silver from tarnishing.
These heart pieces are brought to life as the pop up hearts appear to flutter, adding a sense of motion and life. The hearts also have an outline shape like a butterfly’s wings, furthering this idea of the fluttering heart. All of the hearts featured have a satin finish with a polished edge, giving them further shape and definition. In the design of the large statement heart, the designer chose to incorporate seven hearts to symbolize the seven days of the week – one for every day you love her.
The butterflies also have their own romantic story. In Chinese legend, two butterflies flying together symbolize love, they are a symbol of the undying bond between lovers. This idea appears in the twin butterfly pendant and the butterfly studs, as the butterflies flutter harmoniously together.
With the theory of the ‘Butterfly Effect’, it says that a butterfly flapping its wings can cause changes to the atmosphere which can have an effect around the world. This idea is shown in the large butterfly pendant, with the circle the Earth and the butterflies’ wings fluttering.

NEW THIS WEEK - 'DOVEDALE' COLLECTION
This collection was inspired by the dramatic and rugged scenery of Dovedale in the Southern Peak District. Following a walking holiday, the designer was inspired to create a range of jewellery that encapsulated the beauty and form of the natural world, mirroring the impressive rock formations and the calm, flowing River Dove. The designer chose a satin finish and unusual organic shapes completed with cubic zirconia to create pieces that captured the spirit of their surroundings.
There are two pendants, a necklace, bracelet, hoop earrings, drop earrings and stud earrings in the complete collection. All the pieces have a satin finish, which is achieved by soft scratch-brushing of the polished sterling silver surface to produce a soft sheen. A ball chain is used on the necklace to keep in line with the natural feel; the balls of silver cascade down like drops of water.
The heart studs and heart pendant makes a beautiful set, especially with Valentine’s Day just around the corner! These two heart pieces are modeled on the tale of ‘Lover’s Leap’, the highest point of the Dovedale path. The story of Lover's Leap is that a young woman believed her lover had been killed in the Napoleonic war, so she threw herself off the top of the rock. However, her flapping skirt caught in the branches of a tree as she fell and saved her life. When she got home she heard that her boy friend was alive and well. A happy ending all round!

Gok Wan is filming his catwalk competition today at Cabot Circus, Bristol, with the finale at 5pm tonight. Brix Smith Start, co-host of Gok’s Fashion Fix, just popped into Azendi with her cute dog – she’s lovely! We managed to grab some shots of the action.
